Seasonal Recipes for Easter and Beyond
Easter is mere weeks away (Sunday, March 31), so to help you prepare for the long weekend, we’re bringing you some recipes you’ll love – for the religious holiday and the spring season in general. Read on for some suggestions from the My Appliances team.
Herby Spring Chicken Pot Pie
When it comes to seasonal recipes, BBC Good Food always brings the goods. We particularly like the sound of this herby spring chicken pot pie recipe for the new season – and we think you will too. Vegetarian? Substitute the chicken for a meat alternative or just opt to make a veggie-packed pie instead.
With spinach and herbs and topped with crispy filo pastry, this pie, says BBC Good Food, is ideal for busy weeknights. We’re planning to prepare it over the long Easter weekend though; we think it’ll go down a storm with family and friends and it sounds relatively easy to make too.
One-pan Lamb with Hasselback Potatoes
Would it be Easter – or spring, even – without a lamb recipe? We think not. That’s why we’re sharing with you this dish, also from BBC Good Food, which really packs a punch in terms of flavour. It’ll look good when served up, too – well, just look at those potatoes!
Asparagus, Tomato and Feta Salad
Keen to make a light and fresh starter ahead of your main course this Easter? We like the look of this salad, which features asparagus, tomatoes, and feta - it’s as colourful as it is tasty, too. Find the recipe on the Tesco Real Food site and enjoy it as a snack or as part of your annual Easter feast or buffet – it’ll be delicious either way.
Caramelised White Chocolate Cheesecake
Sick of all those chocolate eggs? Well, we know you can never really get sick of choccy eggs, but if you do, why not whip up this delectable – and equally sweet – dessert, via delicious magazine? A real showstopper, it’s bound to delight your dinner guests.
Containing caramelised white choc and a golden ganache for the ‘ultimate shiny topping’, this recipe takes a bit of time, says delicious magazine. It’s worth it though – go on, give it a go this spring.
If you’re not yet fed up with those choccy eggs, you could use them to decorate your masterpiece too – why ever not?
Hot Cross Bun Custard Pudding
Love hot cross buns? Like custard? You’re in for a treat, thanks to this novel dessert by Jamie Oliver which combines both sugary treats. Make it with the kids and tuck in over Easter or beyond – that is, if you can still get your hands on hot cross buns in the shop.
Also from the Jamie Oliver site is this stunning Easter simnel cake – an absolute must if you like to keep with tradition. The kids will love rolling out the marzipan, says Jamie, but ‘leave any blow torching to the grown-ups’.
